Copano Bay RV Resort

Camp Chaos made her first trip of the year! Shaune and I left the kiddos with family and made the 3-hour trip to Rockport, Texas. The first trip after de-winterizing can always have a few hiccups so it’s always a good idea to make the first trip a adults only trip. A friend of ours was getting married in Rockport so what a better excuse to bust out Camp Chaos and break her in for the season!

When looking for RV Resorts (yes, there is a difference between parks and resorts) there were so many to choose from! Ultimately, we ended up at Copano Bay RV Resort. This was a great resort to go to for just the weekend.

Spot 231

Pros:

  • Great Fishing Pier that is also great for early morning coffee and watching the sun rise. It is also equipped with a fish cleaning station.
  • Cornhole
  • Clean Pool
  • Fire pits next to the water with Adirondack chairs
  • On the water
  • Level concrete sites
  • Playground
  • Friendly management and full-timers! They even had nightly social sunset events where everyone was encouraged to go sit by the water and watch the sun set with other campers. What a great way to meet fellow RVers!
  • Dog park and dog washing station for your four-legged campers
  • Laundry on site
  • Kayak Launch & Kayaks
  • Bikes
  • Game Room
  • Full Hook ups
  • Ultra clean bath house!
  • Only 10 minutes from Rockport Beach

Cons:

  • Sites are VERY close together. We have been to places that pack them in close before but there was approximately two feet between concrete pads.
  • Not all sites, but our site and some others had REALLY tall sewer cleanouts. This only became an issue when it was time to pack up. We had to manually pick up the hose to help the water drain down.

We stayed in spot 231. This is a premium site. We didn’t need anything fancy for just the two of us since we knew our itinerary would be full for the weekend. The park wasn’t full so with the help of the management we got backed into our spot fairly easy.  If the park would have been full it would have been way more difficult because we needed the two spaces in front of us and to cut across the spot next to us to back in our 43-footer.

There are no pull through spots so if backing in your rig isn’t something you are 100% comfortable with yet I would recommend spot 279  or 278. These are super premium sites so they come with the extra cost but the great view and ease of backing in and getting out would be 100% worth it if you were spending more than a couple of days.

Standard sites are great for bumper pulls! Premium & Super Premium are great for 5th wheels and longer bumper pulls.

Standard sites: $59 per night or $229 Weekly

Premium sites: $70 per night or $275 Weekly

Super Premium Sites: $90 per night or $295 Weekly

Those weekly rates are a BARGAIN! If you are staying four or more days definitely opt for the weekly rate even if you don’t plan on staying the full 7 days, you are saving so much money. Keep in mind weekly rates do require an additional $150 deposit for electricity and a .16 cent per KWH charge. Per their website the $150 is applied towards that .16 per KWH and whatever doesn’t’ get used is applied to your final weekly bill.
